Juan Carlos González Leyva, presidente de la Fundación Cubana de Derechos Humanos de Cuba hizo pública la declaración tomada directamente desde la prisión y la cual fue subscrita por alrededor de 14 reclusos, los que utilizaron su propia sangre para autenticar el documento.
El documento leído por Juan Carlos Herrera desde la prisión, gracias a la conexión realizada por el periodista de Radio Martí Jorge Jáuregui, hace hincapié en los malos tratos que están recibiendo los reclusos en las prisiones cubanas. En la prisión de K-8 golpean a los reos esposados a los barrotes, principalmente en la zona de la cabeza, entre otras torturas a los que son sometidos sistemáticamente.
